Quoting & cost estimation

Every RFQ arrives as a mess. Send back a routed, costed quote.

Gavos reads the drawings, the emails and the spreadsheets your customers actually send, builds the process routing, and prices it against your real machine, labour and yield costs.

Illustrative quote. Six minutes from inbox to priced routing.

Why quoting breaks

High mix means every quote is a first.

When no two jobs repeat, there is nothing to copy forward. So the work lands on whoever has been there longest — and the queue is as long as that one person's week.

It starts as unstructured

A PDF drawing, a BOM someone re-cut by hand, and three emails of clarifications. Before anyone can price it, somebody has to read all of it.

The routing is the estimate

Cost lives in the process steps and the setup time, not in a rate card. Get the routing wrong and the margin is wrong before the quote is sent.

It lives in one head

The assumptions behind last year's pricing aren't written down anywhere. When that estimator is out, quoting stops.

Slow quotes lose work

Buyers send the same RFQ to four shops. The one that answers on Wednesday is in the conversation; the one that answers next week is not.

How it works

Three steps, in the order you already work.

01

Drop in the RFQ, however it arrived

Forward the email or upload the files. Gavos pulls out the part, quantity, revision, materials, tolerances and test requirements, and flags what's missing so you can ask the customer once instead of three times.

02

Get a routing you can argue with

Gavos proposes the process steps, setup and cycle times from work you've quoted before. Every line is editable, and every change is kept — so the routing becomes your standard, not a black box.

03

Price it against your real costs

Machine rates, labour, materials, scrap and yield roll into a cost breakdown you can show a customer. Set a margin floor and the quote tells you when a discount crosses it.

What's in it

Built for shops where nothing repeats.

Routing-aware costing

Cost accrues per operation, so a change in setup time moves the number where you'd expect it to.

Yield and scrap built in

Price the units you'll actually ship, not the units you'll start.

Revision control

Rev C and rev D are separate quotes with a visible diff, not two files with similar names.

Margin guardrails

Set floors by customer or product family. Anything below needs a named approver.

Customer-ready output

A clean quote PDF plus the cost breakdown behind it, in your own template.

Exports where you work

A won quote leaves with its routing intact, ready to become a work order in your ERP or MES.

Advanced packaging

Back-end packaging quoting has no tool of its own.

Generic configurators assume a catalogue and a bill of materials. OSAT and advanced packaging work assumes neither — the cost is in the process flow, the equipment time and the yield. That's the model Gavos prices against.

  • Wafer dicing and singulation
  • Die attach, flip-chip and wire bond
  • Substrate and interposer costing
  • Encapsulation and molding
  • Electrical and burn-in test time
  • Customer-supplied wafer handling
  • Per-lot yield and bin assumptions
